Summer 2020
This past summer, a handful of Forte Piano Studio students participated in the Chopin Sawka project, a collaborative project presented by Department of Music at SUNY New Paltz and the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art. The students performed works by Chopin against a backdrop of the exhibition, “Jan Sawka: The Place of Memory (The Memory of Place). The musicians were to consider Sawka’s artwork through the lens of Chopin’s music and vice versa, while also sharing a bit about their own life experiences. Although an in-person performance was not possible, it was great to see how the videos turned out. You can view the full project at https://sites.newpaltz.edu/news/2020/11/chopin-and-sawka/
